About Liz

This website was created by Liz Delves to share her love of quilting with the people of Manchester (and beyond).

I first discovered the art of quilting in 2005 when we happened to pop in to an exhibition at The Harley Gallery in Worksop. The exhibition featured some incredible quilts by artists such as Jette Clover and Elizabeth Brimelow (who incidently studied at MMU like me!) and took my breath away. As soon as I got home that day I bought a pack of fabric squares from eBay, and started sewing them together.

Three years later I went to York for my 21st Birthday, and was amazed to find the Quilting Museum there! I went along, picked up a leaflet for the Quilters’ Guild and used my birthday money to become a member.

I am by no means an expert, but someone who is learning, and is constantly inspired by the incredible work of so many talented quilters around the world. I hope to get more young people involved in quilting as I am only young (25 – still a baby in quilting years, where the average age is 55), and would love to meet other quilters in Manchester and maybe even start a quilting group!

    HI Liz,
How fabulous to hear about a quilting group in Manchester. I have been looking for something like this for a while, especially a group where i could continue to learn about quilting as I am still quite a beginner and have a lot to learn I live in North Manchester, in Prestwich but could travel.
A Manchester quilting group would be fabulous, there must be lots of us in Manchester wanting to develop our skills in this area.
