Quilts Cover Hampen Football Pitch

It’s not very often you will hear me talking about football, but quilter, Ann Hill, has combined football and quilting in a fantastic project. Ann has been working alongside Alzheimer Scotland, NHS Dumfries and Galloway and Hampden Park Football Museum, over past 4 years to coordinate a masterpiece.

She has been working with people living with dementia, their families and staff, encouraging them to talk about family, friends, places and events from their loved one’s past and the memories have been stitched into a quilt which is presented to them.

Thousands of quilts have been stitched with the memories of people with dementia and were spread out over the pitch at Hampden Park, Scotland’s National Stadium, yesterday.

Some of the quilts will be auctioned off at a football dinner and all the money raised will be donated to the Alzheimer Scotland and Scottish Football Memories Project.
