Thieves steal quilts from Mill

Thieves broken into the Empress Mills building in Colne, Lancashire, over the bank holiday weekend and stole quilts being stored there ready for the Empress Stitch Show.

The quilts stolen ranged from lovingly pieced quilts by enthusiastic quilters to family heirlooms. It is a mystery as to what the thieves plan to do with the quilts.

My heart goes out to those who had their quilts stolen. So many hours, so much money and so much creativity and emotion goes into making a quilt, and I really do hope that the quilters are reunited with their quilts soon.
